Last year we left Utah with 3 feet of snow and landed in Bangkok to hot and humid weather as soon as we stepped out of the airport. It's such a shock to the system, isn't it? But oh reading your story how I dream of Africa.Loranhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17888794632630265411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-617652323643666421.post-92067887063872887932009-08-23T15:57:50.532+02:002009-08-23T15:57:50.532+02:00Oh, Jo, what a nerve-wracking adventure at times! ...Oh, Jo, what a nerve-wracking adventure at times! It is really weird looking at this post as my hubby has just a few hours ago flown out of Jo'burg to London after a week in Mozambique on project visits upcountry! So it was strange to be seeing the view of leaving Jp'burg airport - the same one he saw a couple of hours ago! He also said it was only 18degrees when they arrived there last week. Maputo was a bit warmer and upcountry was more pleasant, maybe lower altitude.
You were lucky to get the plane photo as so many african airports freak out at any photography! I flew Ethiopian years back to Addis from London, spent a week in Ethiopia visiting the south, lovely country. Sudan is unknown territory to me, though many friends worked there over the years.
I will try to read your posts more regularly, they are so interesting to anyone who has a soft spot for Africa (that would be me!)
All good wishes,
Catherine.Catherinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16116884676266268214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-617652323643666421.post-15383901270858580572009-08-22T21:41:05.341+02:002009-08-22T21:41:05.341+02:00What a wonderul & descriptive post, Jo - I fel...What a wonderul & descriptive post, Jo - I felt like I was with you on your journey to the Sudan :) love the photo's too .... What an adventure you had !
I'm not an adept of Murphey's law ( What can go wrong will go wrong), but it seems to be true in air travel.
All done now, so start enjoying !Barbarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02717159905482468936noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-617652323643666421.post-45419406467340152872009-08-22T21:13:55.405+02:002009-08-22T21:13:55.405+02:00Hi Karen; phew, I have taken a day really feel res...Hi Karen; phew, I have taken a day really feel rested. I'm glad you "shared" my journey with me! Thanks for visiting my blog. (((Hugs))) Jo

Hi Betsy;) thanks, I am thrilled to be back with hubby - and he is of course, over the moon to have me here. It's been three long years since we lived together and I think I'll be staying for as long as he does. (say a coupla years. Mmm?) We're having a grand ole time. He's given me a tour of the city and tomorrow after he finishes work (it's not Sunday in Sudan but the first working day tomorrow although today, Saturday, was also a full working day) hell collect me from the apartment and we'll pop into town. We are bird-sitting two budgies who have NO toys or mirror. I'll probably blog about them sometime. Cute little things and a far cry from my eight cats in South Africa. Thanks for being such a darling and always visiting.
