Recently my younger son, Angus and daughter-in-law, Amanda came over for a hamburger lunch. They love to come and eat what I call, Hash’s Homemade Hamburger Patties. Grant, (whose nickname is Hash) goes to the butchery himself and orders the minced meat for his hamburgers. Then he comes home and prepares these tasty hamburger patties.
Even though he has often made them before, this is first time he has made them since I started my blog. (Ha!) And this means that now he would be photographed while making them. I thought he was going to stop me from taking photos while he was busy, but strangely enough, he didn’t seem to mind and I got some lovely photos.
(Mmm, perhaps he was focusing on his task and didn't notice me and my camera)
Hash’s Homemade Hamburger Patties
500 g minced pork fillet
500 g minced beef fillet
1 onion, grated
1 clove garlic
½ teaspoon baking powder
10 ml mixed herbs
Salt and ground black pepper
1 Egg
Flour to work with
Place all ingredients in a large bowl
Mix together thoroughly using your hands
With floured hands form patties
Place on floured surface/cover with damp cloth
Preheat oven to 180 ° (350 ° F)
Place patties on lightly oiled baking tray
Brush eat patty with vegetable oil
Bake in oven until brown, turning to cook on other side.
Serve on Hamburger rolls with sliced onion, tomato and lettuce
Makes 14 patties

Oh, those look delicious ! I had to laugh at your comment about your family & the photo's. My family, staff, pets and friends all know about my blog & know that I now go everywhere with my camera & a notebook ! Of course at first the were amused ... then a bit irritated .... and now they are so used to it they hardly notice ... heee heee .... The other day I was making lunch for my daughter & as I put her food down in front of her she said "But Mama, you didn't take a photograph yet ?!" (That made me feel a bit guilty !)
ReplyDeleteOh no! Never mind, I'm sure your daughter sees it as part of life! I think we bloggers are quite circumspect. I wouldn't, for instance take photos of visitors' (at my table) plates of food. I notice you take table settings and bowls of steaming food when you have people for dinner - ditto. Thanks for your comment on the burgers - I also cannot comment on what they taste like, but everyone eating them, said they were delicious so there you have it! Hugs Jo BTW Hubby says thanks:)

Your husband is a clever gent, homemade burgers are much better!
You know, here in Portugal I do exactly the same. I also mix pork and beef and I use parsley as only herb. Much better than any McDonnalds or Kingburger, lol.

As I said before, Mize, I feel as if I know you because of Lynda's blog. She is a dear friend of mine and has gleaned me many new readers. I am honoured to have you reading me as well. We have huge patches of parsley growing in my one herbaceous bed (a very hot area of my garden) whereas it did not thrive at all in my vegetable garden. My hubby did add chopped parsley. He is a very talented cook but still from the old school husbands. I only ask him to cook "now and again" so that he does not feel pressurised. (ha-ha) Today I'm going to ask him to make curry for dinner tonight. Hopefully he doesn't notice me taking photos again! I would LOVE to visit Portugal.
