High Up

Above sign denotes the highest drivable pass in Africa. Tlaaeng Pass is at the top of the Maluti Mountains in Lesotho. Last weekend my husband and John did a bike trip over the mountains into Kwa Zulu Natal. John took many amazing photos which I will publish and blog about later on in the month.

  1. I'll bet that was an amazing ride, over 10,000 feet. Sounds like there are undriveable passes higher. Look forward to more.

  4. This looks beautiful! I always found Lesotho fascinating since I first heard of it in 1978 when I was going abroad for the first time - I was going to Bangladesh and Irish Aid was sending a bunch of veterinarians to Lesotho to work with their horses on a breeding programme with Connemara ponies/horses. You are lucky to be living in Africa with all this beauty on your doorstep - and nice weather too!
Are you going back to Sudan or is that over for now?

  6. If my calculations are right, that's about 10,500 feet. Quite high, and I assume it's well above treeline for the area.
