Preparing to Leave Home

Today it's all systems go for my trip to the Sudan. While this post is aired, I'll be at the hairdresser having my last cut and colour, then off to my friend for a last manicure. In the afternoon I will prepare supper for the family: Angus and Amanda (younger son and daughter-in-law) will join me, John, Debbie and children for homemade pizzas.

I hope to get my final packing done and have an early night. I leave home at 5am on Thursday and will arrive in Khartoum at 23.45 that night. Depending on the mood and enthusiasm of the customs officials at Khartoum International Arrivals, I should exit the airport building at 00.30 and meet my husband on the tarmac outside. (No persons are allowed inside the arrivals hall to await their visitors - strange I know, but that's the way it is)

I'm not sure whether I'll get near my computer today so to all who read this post, thanks and bless you until I "see" you from another part of the African continent.

  6. Thanks Sunny;)

Hi Lynda, LOL! you, for one, know how time is not an issue in Africa! In retrospect: (I write this on Saturday) the officials were AMAZING - so I apologise to them. They were quick, efficient and very helpful. A guy helping me on MY side of the counter, to fill in that dratted entry form, let me use his cell phone to let hubby know that I was inside. (DH had been waiting since 11pm Friday and this was after three the next morning. Ah well, it all ended well.
