Last year in November Grant and I did a six-thousand kilometer motorcycle tour across the Northern Cape (South Africa), into Namibia. We headed north into the interior of this beautiful country to Poppa Falls where we spent the night. The next day we turned east into Botswana. We finally emerged in the Northwest Province of South Africa again. We arrived home seven days after we'd started out and promised ourselves we'd do another tour in the not-too-distant future, this time incorporating Zimbabwe and the Victoria Falls.
Meanwhile I'll be posting a few more photos and accounts of the trip above in the coming days.
Our first crossing of the Tropic of Capricorn was north of Marienthal in Namibia
Four days later on our way through Botswana we crossed the Tropic of Capricorn again this time just south of Malapye

Oh boy, another road trip. I want to see Victoria Falls too.
ReplyDeleteFabulous photos, Jo. This reminds me of crossing the Tropic of Capricorn in Australia in 1982.
ReplyDeleteYou are very brave to travel on a motorcycle. I've been offered lots of rides but have always been afraid to accept because I've never had a good sense of balance, so the whole idea scares me.

Pragtige foto's van ons toekomstige toerleiers en joernaliste! xxx
ReplyDeleteThat is so interesting Jo.... I remember, as a child, studying the Tropic of Capricorn and the Tropic of Cancer. How special to get to see it in person.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Betsy
That sounds sooo much fun!!! God bless and protect you always.
ReplyDeleteWhat fantastic travels you and Grant have had, Jo! It's great that you both are in such good shape and have excellent health. You'll be able to do much more travelling in the decades to come!
ReplyDeleteThat must have been a fun trip,
ReplyDeleteThis seems like a great way to explore the continent. I look forward to more photos from this adventure.
