The African Pied Wagtail is a distinctive black and white bird with a long tail. We often see two or three at the river below the office, although they are also common in the camp and in our gardens. On Sunday we stopped on the bridge to watch the bird above and it rendered a lovely clear trilling song as a reward

ReplyDeleteOur wagtails have a lovely song too but they don't look as big as those beauties. Well done on getting an article to write. Good luck with it. Those avocados look delicious and they are so expensive here. $2.50 AD each.

Our Willie Wagtails are black and white too with long wobbly tails. It actually is the largest of our Fantails but so hard to get a good shot of.

I have such a soft spot for the little brown wagtails we get down our way. Their pied Northern cousin is quite a striking looking little bird. I'd never have guessed it was a wagtail.
