Birding at the dam on Sunday delivered a selection of birds and other creatures. I have many photos (and a post or two) of herons, but felt I should post about the Grey Heron again. Visiting Eileen's blog this week, I saw a Great Blue Heron and thought how alike these two birds are. You can see Eileen's interesting post about the Great Blue Heron and many other birds and creatures here.
Following are some of the birds we saw last Sunday here Kenya.
Grey Heron
Sacred Ibis
Cattle Egret warming themselves in the morning sun
Also enjoying the sunshine: the resident crocodiles
A close-up of ole "big-mouth"
And a peek down it's throat. (I love the reflection in the water)

Love the birds, Jo, but those crocodiles are too close for comfort as far as this Canadian is concerned.

Wow--you saw alot of critters/birds while at the dam. Not sure I'd enjoy the croc's---but love seeing the birds. The Ibis is a beautiful bird. Thanks for sharing.

Your grey heron does look a lot like our Great Blues. Guess with the crocs around you don't do any swimming. ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Jo - I saw a few Grey Herons over the last few days but they don't like me and I couldn't get a decent shot ... I love the Sacred Ibis ... never seen one in the flesh (or feathers, as the case may be ... )
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of all the egrets in the tree. Great shot!
ReplyDeleteHi, Jo! How nice of you to link up my blog, thanks. Your grey heron does look a lot like our Great Blue herons. I love the cattle egret tree. They are always a treat to see. I would love to see the Ibis you post, they are cool looking birds. And wow, that gator with the mouth wide open looks hungry. I loved all the birds and the photos. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteBecause of your adventures and photos, I also get to see many of His creations I wouldn't see in this part of the world I'm in. Take care sister and God bless.
ReplyDeleteWow Jo you have captured some wonderful wildlife... many thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGreat birds - but the crocs are a little too close!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada
ReplyDeleteGreetings to Kenya! Nice shots Jo, I especially like the Cattle Egrets. There must be a lot to eat around there to grow such monster croc's. I'm impressed!
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots! I like the tree full of Egrets!
ReplyDeleteHi Jo! Great photos here. BTW thanks for visiting my blog. I really need to do an up-date, but haven't had time yet. I am doing so well that I walked 3/4ths of a mile on the treadmill today - then went out and walked down my street for one block and back in the brisk 50 degree temps. Thanks for the kind remarks you made and for your prayers.
ReplyDeleteCrocs are really skery and huge reptiles. They have their own passion that only they can understand.
