Dry season in Tanzania

When I look around the Tanzanian countryside, I can't believe that we had such downpours of rain u to mid-April. At the moment it's dry season in Tanzania and the earth, grass and flora is tinder-dry. The saddest of all is the condition of the cattle and the rural people. The animals are emaciated, move with lethargy and their hides look flaky and dry.

The humans aren't faring much better.

My helper in the fresh produce market, Michael Peter, looked wan and ill when I met him last week

Roll on September and the first of the small rains - we need you desperately!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

  1. It is so sad when poorer countries of the world are in dry season or in drought. I pray that rains come sooner than expected to help the parched earth and people.

Here too we had so much unseasonal rain for so long. The month of July and most of August so far has been dry and hot. While I slept we had a huge downpour with a clap of thunder that sounded like a bomb blast. Today again was sunny but at least the earth got a good soak.

  3. I love the sound of "the small rains" — we had rain in the forecast for tonight, but for thunder storms. So far, nothing, but I'd better bring Lindy in.
I was imagining your cats cuddled up with Lindy, and I think they would all be very comfy, she's so cuddly and soft.
