Prize giving in Shinyanga

The day the Mwadui ladies handed out soup and treats for the children of the Blind and Albino School, Shinyanga, Father Justin asked us if we'd attend a prize giving function at the nearby Catholic primary school. He asked us to nominate a guest of honor who'd hand out the prizes. I suggested that Marita is that dignitary and we'd support her. The other ladies on camp couldn't attend so even though it was the day before I took our foster cats to Dar Es Salaam, I went along with Marita. 

It turned out to be a very interesting morning with speeches in English and Swahili and afterwards I took photos of Marita handing over the prizes.
Before the prize giving several students gave a poem rendition of the school's history and it's many needs !

    It is interesting to see that even poor African schools can still have pomp and ceremony. Good on Marita and you for doing this for the school.

    You ladies look lovely and I'm sure both of you being at the school for their ceremony meant the world to them. It makes things more exciting too for the staff and children. God bless you Jo.

    It is so important for children to partake of these ceremonies. It is important for all of us to mark the milestones of our lives.
