All around the chalets within the forests, we'd encounter monkeys, bushbuck and suni (the latter, the smallest antelope in Africa)
Suni and blue vervet monkeys are seen all around the chalets and camp

Walking off the beach in the late afternoon, bushbuck grazing on the dune succulents are a common sight. Above is a female of the species
As we drove through the park on our last day, I photographed this male bushbuck

Along the road through the game reserve we regularly came across small troops of baboon
This herd of blue wildebeest image looks like a watercolor painting!
We were blessed by sightings of many kudu , male, female and young. We saw males of the species with two and three curls which I believe denotes age and prominence in the herd.
This kudu male had two curls, a young calf alongside him and a group of females and younger calves nearby
We all oohed and aahed at this kudu male with THREE curls in its horns!

'Zebra, fascinating animals!

No Hedges outing would be complete without a bird sighting; we saw many birds, some of which I've already posted about on Saturday Critters with my blogger friend, Eileen.

Just before exiting the gate on our last day in the park, we stopped for one last photo: a rhino cow and her calf !
After two beautiful days on the beach, and driving around the Isimangaliso Wetland Park, we eventually had to bid farewell to this amazing World Heritage Site.
I wish you all a wonderful week ahead.
Such exciting wildlife you spotted I special like the Kudus those curly antlers are impressive. I would love to see all those animals and birds in one place that was not a zoo, Not very likely I

ReplyDeleteLots of wildlife in the park. I've never been up there, just a pity its so far from me.
ReplyDeleteWow--what a great place to visit. You saw lots and lots of wild animals.... And--seeing the Rhino crossing the road in your previous post made me think of going to Yellowstone National Park and waiting for the Buffalo to cross the road.
