Good fences; good barn swallow

Returning from the city last week, we had to stop at the road works just outside our town. As I turned my head to the left, I noticed a swallow on the fence nearby. I whipped out my camera and...

Although this post is only about one bird on one strand of fence wire, I was fascinated by the little claws around the sharp barb.

I'm linking my post to Good Fences Thursday here

  1. 1 bird, 1 strand of wire was all it needed for this post. Great captures.

  4. I know lots of folks around here don't care for them, and most of my neighbors take down their nests, (yes they can be messy with their droppings) but I rather like them, and have the most fun while I'm mowing and they circle above my tractor! It's really quite funny to see!

  9. Nice shots. Swallows are so flighty and hard to capture.
