Mid-July Saturday Critters

At last I've managed to sit down at my desk and blog. In between the trips and other commitments which I've taken on (more about THIS later, LOL), I've still taken  the dogs on their walk to the golf course.

On Wednesday, with a 60 - something - old body that felt like it had been through a mangle, Eddy, Skabenga and I had a lovely walk.
No matter how cold the weather and water, Skabenga takes a dip - many dips - while we're at the dam

While looking for photos for this post, I found last week's walk with the dogs when granddaughter, Abby came with us. She has such a gentle nature and stops to "smell the flowers" (read, pick them for her Mom) and exclaim at the pretty birdies, or lovely sky... This from a four-year-old.
Carefully picking a bunch of wildflowers for her Mom...
Originally I'd bent down to photograph the single blooms

 Precious child!
That same day, we met up with two ladies carrying huge bags of wood on their heads. I stopped to chat to this lady and assure that Skabenga wouldn't harm her (the lady in the background wasn't having any of my explanations!)
I can't imagine how any woman can stride out so easily with such a large burden on her head!
While in Cape Town last Monday, I photographed the moon from the guest room where we were staying. First Quarter, visibility 45%; age 8 days. 11 July 2016 at 10.19pm

WISHING YOU ALL A HAPPY SATURDAY!

  1. she is a precious child and so pretty.. i can not fathom how she walks with that wood on her head. i would have trouble carrying more than one piece in my arms.. or even pushing or pulling all that in a wheel barrow.. my neck hurts looking at it..

  4. Abby is so precious. I can't understand how women in SA walk with any of things I've seen on their heads let alone a heavy load. Must be hard on their necks and back. Welcome home from your quick trip.
