Yesterday Grant and I attended a farewell in the Valley. It was different in that the person we were saying goodbye to had passed away in August. Martin Goulding was a past president of Probus, Champagne Valley and he and his wife, Wendy were very popular and well loved. Because his funeral was held in Johannesburg (many miles from here) and many people couldn't attend, the present president of Probus arranged a get together where we could sympathize with the widow and enjoy a cup of tea and eats.
Tea and eats aplenty
Present Probus president, Neil with Probus member, Janet and the widow, Wendy
Brian Angus who's known Wendy and Martin for 56 years shared a few recollections of Martin's life
A large gathering of friends came to say a final farewell to Martin
I'm linking to Our World Tuesday here

It was so nice of current Probus President, Martin to arrange this memorial gathering. I'm sure the widow Wendy appreciated the efforts and the love. xx
ReplyDeleteHow lovely for his widow. And all those who mourn him.
ReplyDeleteA good way to say farewell, Jo.
ReplyDeleteSorry for your loss of a friend. It is really a great tribute for the friends who couldn't make the long journey to have a chance to get together and share their special moments of their departed friend. I'm sure his widow appreciated the gesture too.
ReplyDeleteI caught up on all your post and see that the house makes progresses. I am late with answering comments, because of my eye surgery. It weren't the eyes which hurt, but I felt dizzy and not normal (if that is possible!) How nice you are settling in !
