For the past two Sundays circumstances almost forced me to stay home instead of opening the shop. Although I may have lost a little or more business (I think not) I enjoyed my time off. So much so, that I'm going to close most Sundays from now on. Nothing like training the clients to come back on Monday! LOL!
And of course, I and my furbabies enjoyed a whole day in the sun and long walks (Skabby) twice in one day!
The calves in the nursery being fed mother's milk straight from mama cow
This pretty black-eyed calf stares at me and Skabenga
Cows chewing the cud...
... makes for plentiful and creamy milk
Skabenga making a quick turn and looking quite fierce. Just the moment of the photo!
Of course, I had time to take my camera along and stopped to snap the many birds and other interesting scenes!
Sacred Ibis
Spur-winged Goose female. I only found this out today when I had a closer look. I don't have Grant's help any more and have to make a concerted effort to identify the birds - especially waders and larger birds which he was very good at ID'ing
Pivot sprays early in the morning
Colorful washing on the line catch the first rays of the sun
The farm house nestled in amongst the trees as it has been for the past 70 years
White faced Duck - the first I've seen since being back in South Africa these past four years!
Once Skabenga dived into "his" pond, the birds took flight!
Happy, muddy and wet!
Back home, Junior was waiting to give Skabenga a mouthful!
I'm linking to Saturday Critters with Eileen, here
HAPPY SATURDAY TO YOU ALL
Having Sundays to yourself and your furry companions sounds like an EXCELLENT idea. Lovely photos too.
ReplyDeleteYes I think that is a good decision to close on Sundays. Not sure what you meant by femal Ibis, I thought that was a histling duck above the text where you mention S I. Hope allis well and it is lovely to ssee all the critters on your walk. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteWonderful countryside photos! Love the calf! I know you enjoyed having Sunday off.
ReplyDeleteHello Jo, I think closing on Sundays is a great idea. I love seeing the farm and cows. The Sacred Ibis, Goose and Ducks are great sightings. Skabenga is a big handsome boy. Junior looks tiny compared to Skabenga. Great critters and photos. Thank you so much for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend. PS, thanks also for the visit and comment on my blog.
ReplyDeleteI remember a day when nothing was opened on Sunday. I wish that was how it was now then I wouldn't have to work them.
ReplyDeleteYou absolutely should have Sundays off Jo, for yourself of course but also for us, so we can come along on these wonderful rural walks with you each week. Takes me right back to my years in Central Africa ✨
