Or.. Not sure!
Hello dear Blogger friends. I saw this beautiful dove in Spain during my holiday there in May. I cannot find any reference to this specific bird on Google. Having seen it in captivity (in a large butterfly enclosure in Malaga) I'm not even sure if it's endemic to that area.
However, being a striking looking bird, I decided to share it here and have also linked to Eileen's Saturday Critters, here
HAPPY SATURDAY TO YOU ALL!
google search says it is a black naped fruit dove. which means it is some type of fruit dove and I have never seen one like it. gorgeous with that green middle.
ReplyDeletePretty Dove, ours are grey. Enjoy the weekend, Jo.
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed a striking bird - by whatever name we call it.
ReplyDeleteHello Jo,
ReplyDeleteIt is a striking bird, the white head and green body really stand out. Beautiful bird and photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Hello Jo. I have never come across a White-headed Dove like the one you picture. I know there are a number of similar species but none of them are residents of Iberia. I guess your bird is an escape from captivity.
ReplyDeleteIt really is gorgeous! I've never seen anything like it even in my bird books! WOW!
ReplyDeleteA pretty bird!
