My son, John, blowing his shofar at the foot of Cathedral Peak on New Year's Day 2010
"In that day, the great trumpet will sound. Many who were dying in exile in Assyria and Egypt, will return to Jerusalem to worship the Lord on His Holy mountain." Isaiah 27:13

Beautiful.
Ek dink dis nogal moeilik. (het self probeer en opgegee!) Pragtig ne? Liefjou.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice shot, the place looks so serene. Marvelous.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the words of wisdom from the bible.
I want to say thank you for your kind words and for always visiting my site. I would like to invite you to check out my other site ( www.misalyn.blogspot.com ) to share more of 'me'
A blessed weekend to you Jo. Regards to your husband. I hope you are enjoying your stay there in Khartoum.
Misalyn
Now at Yvonne, and you can start blogging!!!!
ReplyDeleteAn unusual musical instrument I wonder what it sounds like, a trumpet maybe.
ReplyDeleteThanks Misalyn;) I'll pop over to your other blog. Have a wonderful weekend. (((Hugs))) Jo
ReplyDeleteHi Glennis, to me it sounds like a cow mooing - which is appropriate considering it's a horn! It does sound like a trumpet - wonderful to hear it in the mountains like this.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good way to sound in the new year. I've only seen horns like that in movies.
ReplyDeleteHope your January is going well.
Wonderful wording, Dedene! Thanks. All's well here in North Africa.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful photo Jo, hope your having a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteGuy
Thanks Guy.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I read the title, I started singing, "The Trumpet Shall Sound"--which is a choral anthem I used to sing... Have you heard it???
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous setting for John to blow his shofar --at Cathedral Peak.
Your sun pictures in the next post are amazing also.
Thanks for your kind words on my blog today. God is there for all of us!!! Right???
Hugs,
Betsy
Yes, Betsy! I know it and I didn't think about it until you mentioned it. Thanks! Bless you. (((Hugs))) Jo
ReplyDeleteWow Jo, that is one spectacular setting. I'll bet the trumpeting of the shofar bounces off those magnificent mountains. Can't wait to see this in person. Will get back to John soon. Thanks for the heads up.
ReplyDeleteYou have a shofar!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have one. I get to hear one a lot on some of the sermon podcasts I subscribe to, but I'd love to have one for celebrating Shabbat and other Festivals of the Lord.
Cool!
~Faith
Gaelyn, yes, I believe it sounds amazing in the mountains. You will LOVE climbing in the Drakensberg.
ReplyDeleteFaith, welcome to my blog. My son (pictured in post) and his wife and I have celebrated Shabat. I learnt to make Challah which was served at this meal. I have a post on a beautiful friend of mine which is under my That's my world Tuesday, called Saturdays with Yvonne. I will be posting Challah recipes and photos soon. Have a good weekend.
This is a really stunning picture, Jo. I was reading on Betsy's blog that you were feeling a little low. I believe sometimes it's hard not to sink into self-pity for whatever reason, but making a gratitude list will usually bring me back out. Thanks for your comments on my blog. Calling me Loretta made me laugh! Hope you are doing well.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture of your son blowing his horn and the green natural background.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenery. Anyone who has a chance to go on the hike, looks like they would be in for an awesome time. Whenever I hear the shofar it sends a shiver of excitement and anticipation through me.
ReplyDeleteGenial post and this post helped me alot in my college assignement. Gratefulness you on your information.
