The ones that got away...

A week after Christmas, while on a camping weekend which you can read about here and here if you wish. we came across this gaggle of geese (don't you just LOVE the collective noun for these snowy birds?) in a farmyard enclosure. They sure escaped being Christmas fare! However, when Grant stopped for me to capture this procession, they froze in their tracks. Obviously not relaxing their vigil against hungry humans yet! We laughed at their stances - you can actually see how they took a step forward in the photo below. I also loved the suspicious glare from the cow in the background!

If you enlarge the image, you'll see that the goose on the far right has its foot raised in the first photo and on the grass in the second

  1. My goodness, Jo, I never imagined you would have that effect on domestic animals. LOL

  2. You stopped them in their tracks.

I love that Grant stops for you to take photos. Mike does that too, most of the time.

  4. I love geese, mine were unfortunately incinerated together with house , garden and other pets in one of our major bushfires.

  5. They are giving you a bums up gesture. That's what they think of humans who eat them for Christmas.

  6. A gaggle of geese always sounds so musical to me.
