Royal Wedding

Last Saturday I was invited to view the Royal Wedding at a hotel in the valley with a group of friends. Many hotels and resorts in the area advertised their events and I 'm sure each one was greatly supported.

My friend, Cindy Muirhead was due to pick my up from my house at 9.30. I had already decided on my wedding outfit and after sorting the pets (what else?) and cleaning my cottage, I spent a good half hour getting ready.

Friend Charmaine,  21`who works next door to me on the veranda of our shops, nagged me to send her photos of my "look".

Waiting for my lift to arrive
Me and Cindy arrived early and had front row seats in the private lounge
The receptionist, Jacques and I seemed to be the only guests who dressed for the occasion

I really loved attending the wedding !

Throughout the morning we were served with Shirley Temple (non-alcoholic) cocktails, cucumber sandwiches, cream scones and tea and coffee.

Later on we enjoyed a selection of savory snacks.

At lunch time (shortly before Meghan was due to arrive at the church) we had curry and rice, chicken a la king and spaghetti sauce. This was followed by the most delicious petite fours, chocolate cakes, meringues and South African melktart!

As you can imagine, a great time was had by all!

  1. I love your hat or is that fascinator? what a fun way to watch. I only had Bob with me, but he did let me have the big screen TV for a few hours, and watched some of it with me, I will not repeat the comments he made. LOL.... you look adorable.

  2. Hello Jo, what a fun get together. I watched the wedding in between blogging. The wedding was beautiful and they make a lovely couple. Enjoy your day!

  3. It was quite the event. Lots of interest here in BC and even in the States where we are currently visiting. - Margy

  4. How lovely you look in your fascinator and how nice you were able to watch the wedding with so many others. I watched from my home where I had to stay awake half the night. I turned the television on around 4 a.m. just in time to see the mother of the bridge alight from the car. One minute later I would have missed the bride as she made her entrance.

  5. Attempt #2 to comment on Jo's choice of outfit for the Royal Wedding...you look wonderful, Jo. I had to watch the wedding alone because my husband doesn't believe in royalty. I enjoyed it just fine without him: cried when I wanted to cry, smiled when I wanted to smile...delighted in the young couple and all the little children with the bride's long, long train! And of course "the Canadian connection" because Meghan lived in Toronto for some years before she met Harry. I think they both have their heads on straight when it comes to royalty's obligation to the poor, and I think they will succeed nicely, thank-you-very-much and naysayers like The Big Guy Here can just continue grumping if they so desire! Hugs from here, dear Jo. — Kay, An Unfittie's Guide to Adventurous Travel (wouldn't it have been an adventure to travel to Britain this month?)

  10. What a fabulous idea - much more fun to get together with others than to watch the wedding alone at home! Almost (!) like being at the real thing. And well done you for getting dressed up!
