While I was out on leave, Amanda baked huge selection of pottery items made by our group. She sent me photos of my spoils!
Clockwise from left: cheeseboard with papava motifs; meat platter with pincushion flower and surrounding leaves; my first bowl turned on the wheel (note the thickness, ewgh!), a map of Africa half concealed in the top right-hand corner; and finally my very own Pumpkin Patch Plate which started out on a mold
Of the five items showed above, I only painted three. Because I 'd been so involved with my African map (very difficult to fit all the countries on it) and the "Pumpkin Patch", Amanda and Nsia who were had completed their bowls and plates, asked if I'd like them to help. Never one to pass up assistance, I agreed and Amanda painted the pincushion flower (her own design) while Nsia did the beautiful blue and white whorls in the turned bowl. The quicker we all completed our paintwork, the sooner we could fire the plates and bowls. I had already painted the papavas on the cheese board earlier that week. Who said this project can't work as a team effort, hmm?
