Khartoum - First Day Back

Rambo poses while Sweet Pea hides in the nest box

We woke up on Sunday morning, after a rather painless flight from Johannesburg to Khartoum. With African air travel, this is the exception rather than the norm. The first thing Grant did was to go downstairs to Issam flat. He had been taking care of Rambo and Sweet Pea in our absence. They were in fine fettle although they were a little skittish when Grant placed their new toys and treats in the cage. We'd brought a bath with a mirror, new grit paper cage liners and a large seed bell. I placed some lettuce leaves, which they love, in the cage and kept my hand in their for a while to get them re-accustomed to me. I then took a few photos in which Rambo appears; Sweet Pea had fled to the nest box all the while I had the camera inside.
At the moment they are on the balcony singing and chirping away at the wild birds who come for the extra seed I put out for them. So all's well in Khartoum in general and in Budgie-World in particular!

  2. Glad you made it home well! I know your babies missed you... just takes them a while to get over being mad that you went on a trip without them. :-)

  3. Thanks Betsy! The birds are happy to have a balcony up here (Issam goes out to work and because he has no wife here, the budgies remained indoors for the time tuey were with him)

Hi Grant! Good to see you. Yes, I always think how animals are so loyal, aren't they? At least they have Emily (housekeeper) who comes in every day.

  9. How cute!
My Grandfather used to raise budgies we always had one or two when I was a youngster. My mother even brought one with us when we came to the USA.
