Our first weekend back in South Africa

This weekend was  a far cry from the hectic weekend we had in Khartoum last week. However, it was necessary that we rest and relax and catch up with friends and family.

On Friday I attended my dear friend Carina's birthday breakfast out on their farm. It was good to see so many of my friends so even though I thought I'd only be away from home for about an hour, I spent most of the morning at the party!

Grant and I went shopping on Saturday to replenish the grocery cupboards. We attended church on Sunday. After church Angus and Amanda and our grandson joined us for a braai (barbeque) in the garden.

My dear friend, (wearing a birthday crown) Carina's birthday breakfast on Friday was a wonderful opportunity for me to catch up with all my friends

Shadow is settling in really well and enjoying life inside for now

Our Marquard grandson played in his camp cot in the garden

The dogs and cats realised we'd be having a braai (barbeque) for lunch yesterday and lay around at our feet

Angus and Amanda and our grandson rode my motorbike around the garden
I spent a while in my garden taking photos. Today as this post is aired, I'll be working alongside gardeners John and David in the flower garden and guiding gardener Simon who is starting a vegetable garden for me

Thank you to everyone for their kind thoughts and comments on the loss of our dear old Pudding. She was such a quiet old lady yet she exuded such a regal presence that I miss her dearly as I feed and re-connect with my Marquard cats.  That's what I love about blogging. You can pour your heart out about something that might seem quite silly in your own social circle yet my blogger friends picked my sadness and passed their own special blend of comfort on to me. Bless you all for thinking of me and "feeling" with me.

I'm glad you and Grant and Shadow are home, and I'm very sorry you lost your old grande dame. You will miss her always, but the pain softens.

  5. I have been away for a few days and have just caught up reading your posts. Sorry to hear about Pudding, it is uncanny that she should go as Shadow arrives. He looks like he will soon settle in. You are so caring towards your animals, they are lucky to have you as mum.
