The sociable weavers' nest is a huge structure built on telephone poles, electricity pylons and trees in the area. I took this photo in the Northern Cape on our recent bike ride through Namibia and Botswana
Wow, those are amazing engineering feats, to keep those huge nests on a pole.
ReplyDeleteInteresting photo!
Those nests look Huge. It's like tree houses. Beautiful blue sky.
ReplyDeleteSociable weaver,
ReplyDeletecome build me a nest, a place
to lie down and rest.
My Sky
Wow, that really is impressive!
ReplyDeleteThose are the biggest bird's nests I've ever seen...amazing! It looks like the pole is leaning with the weight of the nests.
ReplyDeleteI won't be commenting for most of December as we'll be out of town in a location without internet access. But I'll come home with lots of photos!
Janie, it is quite impressive, not so. However, many times you see nests which have collapsed and been abandoned lying on the ground.
ReplyDeleteHi Gaelyn;) yes, I liked the idea of the nests against vast the Kalahari sky!
Welcome to my blog, Magica Mystical Teacher.

Jeepers...and I thought I was tired. Imagine how pooped it must be to make this nest.

ReplyDeleteHi Sandy;) good to see you again. I agree, they know how to live!
Hi Joyce;) they seem tireless when you watch them building. And so cheerful. It really is an interesting bird!
