This past Sunday was Mother's Day in South Africa. For the first time I realised it was Mother's Day in other parts of the world as well. We mothers and grandmothers (ce'st moi!) were given a chocolate bar beautifully beribboned with a lovely message attached. Kit Kat's slogan is Have a break, have a Kit Kat and this is what we women were urged to do on that special day.
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at days to come. She stpeaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Proverbs 31:25-30

After church we invited Angus, Amanda and Joel, and Amanda's parents, (above) Lourie and Celia to lunch. Lourie is our church pastor and we have known them for sixteen years. Only recently though (since mid-2006) we became good friends and then family when our younger son, Angus married their younger daughter, Amanda

It's not usual for me not to have a daily post, but things have been a bit different here in South Africa. We only have two weeks to sort out our [pet] travel arrangements and in between trying to catch up with friends and family. We are completing our income tax invoices and generally sorting our admin out here in SA. We also want to go on a bike trip if the weather plays ball; afterwards we'll pop down to see our older son, John, Debbie and children and then Grant's mum in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Thanks to all who visit and comment on my blog. I will soon be back our quiet valley in East Africa and able to visit your blogs . Until then bless you all and stay safe and happy.

I didn't know South Africa celebrated mother's day, and at the same time, at least this year.

ReplyDeleteNot in all European countries there was Mother's day on Sunday, but in Belgium, Germany and Holland yes. France has another date.
