Black-winged Stilt (female or juvenile)
Little Egret and African Jacana
Long-tailed (Reed) Cormorant preening and fluttering its wings in a most peculiar manner
And looking towards an antique lady with a camera as if to say: whaddayawantwoman?
Green Sandpiper
Yellow-collared Lovebirds - I don't know how Grant spotted them; they were literally hundreds of meters away in the open veld. This was one of my first attempts at using the custom setting on my new camera (It shows, doesn't it?)
A pair of Dik-dik; well-camouflaged in the high undergrowth
Black-shouldered Kite
My first attempt at using the macro button on the camera
I liked this image
Princess and her pups with a roll of discarded electrical cord that Michael had removed from our roof
Princess and mini-me: Bibi
And the final image is especially for my precious friend, Rina who lives in our home in Marquard, South Africa. Chef Paul made donuts for dessert in the dining room last night and brought a treat for Babu Grant. When I told Rina on Skype about it, she said she'd love to have one of Paul's donuts.
So here, Rina, especially for you!
Happy Saturday everyone and enjoy the Critter Party with Eileen.

ReplyDeleteHi Jo You are doing well with the new camera. it takes a while and I am still trying to understand my newish one. Lovely post. Now I have seen all these birds except the gorgeous Lovebirds. The pups are really getting big now and those donuts are to die for. I am off those morning to the I.O.W.
ReplyDeleteHello Jo, what a great critter post.. wonderful collection of birds and the Dik-dik are pretty. My favorites are the Lovebirds and the cool Kite.. Awesome photos. Thank you in advance for sharing your post with my critter party.. Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove the lovebirds...., and the puppies.... and the donuts.....
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
First of all Jo, those doughnuts look scrumptious and wouldn't be there long enough for a photo in our house. I love the Black-shouldered Kite and memories of seeing one or two in Africa. I'm pretty sure your sandpiper is a Green Sandpiper. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_sandpiper
ReplyDeletei tried to eat a donut, alas it did not work. they look yummy... i love the Bibi pic with Princess, they are so much alike... i like the trials the birds leave behind as they walk in the first couple of pics...the macro is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThe Donuts look very yummy and the doggies full of life !
ReplyDeleteThe puppies don't look like puppies so much.
ReplyDeleteThe donuts look like Krispy Kremes.
