To move back to SA would be quite simple except that we have a cat to take back with us. It has been a hectic few days to get Shadow's export and import permits, weigh bill and customs forms sorted out. I will elaborate on the red-tape within a few days.
We fly out next week on Wednesday 13 October at 4h40 in the morning. Shadow is going as manifest cargo on the same flight.
It is almost impossible to take birds into South Africa, so while I'm sorry to say goodbye to our dear little budgies, we are able to hand these feathered beauties over to Robyn, one of the Australian teachers we met in the desert.

Our budgies will go to dearest Robyn (one of the Australian teachers whome we met in the desert last mont) and continue to live the life of Riley!
The Arabic word for cage is Qfş (pronounced gha-fiss)
Oh wow! This seems to come out of nowhere, at least for me, lol. I know you said earlier that you and Grant were retiring sometime next year. Perhaps your schedule is moved up a tad? I'm glad you found a good place for the birds and that you have all your documentation to take Shadow home with you. Bon voyage and safe journey.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if this might be happening, Jo... I know you two will be thrilled to get back home with family. BUT--I'm glad that you had the opportunity to visit the desert and do some things in that area which you may not have ever gotten to do...
ReplyDeleteGood Luck getting everything ready to go home... Glad you can take Shadow with you... Sorry about the birds --but I'm sure the teacher will love having them..
God Bless You both.
Hugs,
Betsy
Lo your adventures are never ending. So glad you can take shadow with you and the budgies should be right at home with an Ozzie girl, after all, the poor little things are ex-pats there as well.
ReplyDeleteOne never knows what surprises God springs on us and when but whatever and whenever they are, they are all good. As long as we remember that all goes well.
God bless jour journey.
Glad the budgies have found a new home. Shadow looks rather comfortable in his temporary home. I'll bet you'll be glad to get home also. Safe journey for you all.
ReplyDeleteHi Jo,
ReplyDeleteYour adventure continues! I'm so happy that Shadow will be going with you, sorry that you must leave your budgies.
Wishing you all a safe journey :)

What a surprise, Jo. Too bad about the budgies, but I'm glad you are taking Shadow.
ReplyDeleteI hope you will continue to keep in touch when time permits.
I'll be thinking about you.
Vaya con Dios,
K
You have had a great experience living there but you must be pleased to be going home for a while. Lucky shadow going with you.
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh! Shadow looks comfy in the temp house!
