This week while on a motorbike ride, we passed a friend's farm where their horses were grazing in a paddock near to the road. We spotted the mare and a very small foal amongst the other horses so we stopped to take photos
The horses begin to walk away from the fence where I was standing taking photos
The foal tucks into his meal again
Mama horse says: "Now beat it lady! Can't you see my little one is having his dinner?"
The horses relax and continue with their grazing.

The mare is a beauty, Jo, and the foal is so sweet. Great you were able to get such nice photos over the fence, and the horses didn't move too far away.
ReplyDeleteDo you know what that white bird-shaped thing is in the last picture? Is it a bird? The first thing that popped into my mind was "cattle egret" but it could be a piece of newspaper. I wasn't able to see it any more clearly by enlarging the photo.

Mama horse little a little skinny. And the horse to her right has a marking like a water buck. What wet toilet did it sit on I wonder. ;)
ReplyDeleteCute pictures, Jo. I love horses. Is that a white bird in the last shot?

enjoyed your contribution today.
There's nothing cuter than a newborn foal. Nice capture of pasture life!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little spindly-legged foal! It looks like these horses have an enormous area in which to graze and run.
