Home again at last!

We're home again, after a two-day stay in Nairobi. Grant had meetings while I wandered around the Ya-Ya centre, mostly window-shopping. I wanted to spend more time in the bookshop, called Bookstop, browsing through their used-books section, but the shop was being renovated and the electricians, their ladders and huge rolls of cables were parked in front of these shelves when I visited. Needless to say, I didn't get to do any browsing.

We stayed at the Ya-Ya apartments next door which was very convenient for me; the flats are well-equipped, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. This is the third time we've stayed in these apartments but the first time we stayed in a one with two levels. I just had to post a photo of the staircase which leads to two bedrooms and a bathroom. It's even trickier than it looks, especially coming down!

I love this forest of fever trees lining a part of the highway, on both sides, between Nairobi and Nakuru

Almost home. The last few kilometers before camp. Always a welcome sight after the 27km long bone-jarring dirt road into the valley

It's so good to be home. No traffic, no billboards lights flicking on the bedroom curtain and no noisy late-night diners.

I hope you're all having a great weekend.

Blessings

Jo

  1. I love the spiral staircase in the photo, although I can imagine it's not as easy to negotiate as regular stairs.
    Glad you're home safely.

  2. Now that is the most comfortable motorbike I have ever seen! Isn't it nice to go to town and even nicer to come home again?
I love your dirt road, just lie a lot of ours in more remote areas.
A pity about you missing out on your treat of browsing and grazing and gobbling up a few of those wonderful old books.

  4. After a big town it's always nice to be home where it's quiet and calm.
I take my visitors around and we have a lot of fun, even the weather is nice !

  5. Welcom home Jo - yes, it's always great to get back to peace and quiet - after one hour in our capital Windhoek I start to get ratty (I think it's the taxi drivers) and usually end up with a splitting headache ...

I love that staicase but yes, it looks like it could be quite tricky ...

  8. I've had a super busy week again, so only managing to fit in a bit of blog reading after sunset most days. The scenery is always amazing, Jo. We, too, love fever trees!! The staircase looked very attractive.
