Good fences, welcome rain

Sitting in a blisteringly hot South Africa, we watch the weather forecast on my Smartphone for any chance of rain. So often the predictions of 50% rain are true, but only a couple of mils fall. We rush out, arms outstretched, faces lifted to the skies and drink in the droplets. Then suddenly it's all over. The earth is cooled down slightly and we enjoy a couple hours of sleep in cooler climes.

The next day the sun emerges early, temps predicted are in the high thirties with it peaking at 40•C/104•F at 3 in the afternoon.

When the rains to fall, it's such a treat that I whip out my camera and take photos - even getting drops on the lens!

Once again, my photos won't upload - in any form. I'm publishing this post and will check later to see if I can add photos.

OK Thanks to Cro's suggestion, I used Picasa to upload. And there they are. (Thanks Cro!)

BTW this rain fell on Monday night. It measured 5ml in the rain gauge. From Tuesday until today, Thursday, the temps have been in the high  30's. At 3am today (this morning) my phone showed the temps as 33C

As I edit this post (10am) the temperature is 27C...

I'm linking to Good Fences Thursday.

  8. Happy to see you had rain. I remember this past summer when it rained a few drops after a very long dry spell going outside and soaking it all in. - Very nice shots of the rain and fences.

  9. Glad you got some rain and that it cooled to 27C. I know when temps are 40c, a drop to 27C feels positively chilly.
