Try as I might, whistling shrilly just before I depressed the shutter, I couldn't get this Black-shouldered Kite on the power lines to turn around for me.
The Black-shouldered Kite, a common bird of prey, is a small, grey and whie raptor with black shoulders. The upperparts are blueish-grey, with black wing coverts which appear as a distinctive black shoulder patch.

HAPPY WEDNESDAY TO YOU ALL!
Such a powerful and beautiful bird. I have learnt that they enjoy messing with our minds - and are good at it.
ReplyDeleteNo just did not want to show his face that day jo
ReplyDeleteHe's giving you the cold shoulder.
ReplyDeleteHello, Jo! Cool sighting of the Black Kite. I wish the birds would cooperate for the camera. The second photo shows some of it's face and beak. Happy Wednesday, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeletein the second photo he almost looked at you.. I like that one, like he is saying No, I will not look at you... I checked the link for the face view and it is a pretty bird
ReplyDeleteWe used to see hundreds of them, but I commented when we were in RSA earlier this year how few I had seen on the visit. Hope all is well Diane
