Suffer the little children

Picture this scenario:

One day Jesus was sitting under a tree in the town square. He was delivering His message and people thronged around Him. Some parents brought their children so that He could touch them and bless them. But the disciples intercepted the parents telling them no to bother Jesus. But when He saw what was happening, Jesus was displeased with His disciples and said: "Let the children come to Me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I assure you, anyone who doesn't have their kind of faith, will never get into the Kingdom of God." Then He gathered the children into His arms, placed His hands on their heads and blessed them. Mark 10:13-16

This is still true today. This is what God wants for the children today. Love, care, blessings, succour, nuturing, help. Wherever you see a child in need,  you could have the blessed hands and loving heart of Jesus. You could reach out and try, in some way, to help.

Jesus also mentions the pure faith of a child. Children look to us for protection, security, love and to supply their needs.

Recently a Canadian blogger friend, Joyful posted about Kigen,  a small boy, here in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya,  who is desperately ill.  Kigen lives in a remote part of the country and to get him to hospital, (which is a priority) he and his parents have to walk for six hours to a point where a vehicle has been organized to take them to El Doret. My heart breaks for this little boy and for his family.  I have been moved to add to Joyful's plea for help. Perhaps people reading Joyful's blog will  feel moved to help towards proper medication and treatment to alleviate some of the pain this little boy is experiencing.

Your prayers are also needed for Kigen and the volunteer, Jonah who is co-ordinating the treatment in El Doret.

Sadly this is not the only case in Africa or in fact, in the world. There are millions of children like this little boy who are left to die in the bush or elsewhere. However,  it's been on my heart to emphasize the plight of this one at this time. Whoever is led to assist in some way, please read Joyful's follow-up post here.

May God bless you as you reach out to help this little lad.

  6. One doesn't have to look far to see the pain, the suffering in this sad world of ours and, indeed, it is up to each and everyone of us to do what we can, where we, when we can! Thank you, Jo, for your loving, caring post.
