Eid and a South African BBQ

There was some controversy as to whether Eid (the end of Ramadan) was on Thursday or Friday here in Tanzania. The moon had been spotted in Dubai but not yet in Dar Es Salaam. However, apart from Christmas Day, the contract company 's employees get the day off at Eid. So Thursday was the day selected and the men had the day off.

In the evening Grant and I invited Thys (who was due to go out on his break), Johan (who'd arrived back from his SA break on Monday) and our good friends, Dick and Rina over for the ubiquitous SA BBQ popularly known as the braai!

Grant and Johan grilled the meat while the rest of us chatted!

I hope you're all having a WONDERFUL weekend!

  1. Nothing like a good old BBQ with friends. My weekend will be spent painting inside the house and spreading sugarcane mulch over the garden.

  3. That's what I like, Jo. Men who cook!
I like the high barbecue, too. No bending over!
Glad you're keeping busy and having fun.

  4. A proper braai like only South African can do! Eid also only took place in SA on Friday because the moon wasn't sighted on Thursday
