Malachite Kingfisher

This tiny kingfisher has a large red bill, a green-blue crest and red feet. The upperparts are ultramarine and there is a distinct white patch on the side of the neck

The underparts are rufous and the throat is white. It is found at almost any permanent fresh water with fringing vegetation like the river below the mine office where we often see this colourful little bird and where I took this photo
