Dabchicks and school girls

The Dabchick chicks (young) are growing up quickly. Recently we saw them sitting together on a pad of weeds  - perhaps the leftover nest where they were born? Next minute a parent popped up above the surface of the water and immediately the chicks jumped in next to mum hoping for a titbit.

Oops, where's mum now?

Ah, she's back again!

During the week as I walked across the street from the Guest House to my home, I heard a chorus of voices behind me: "Gooood af-ter-noooon, Bi-bi". I turned and saw three little girls walking home from school. When I asked their names, the first one said: "I'm Irene"; the next one said: "I'm Veronica" and the third one said: "I'm Jessica!" They were holding hands so I asked if I could take a photo of them.

Aren't they just too precious for words?

I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend!

  1. Ah, I love the ducks and the little girls!! They are all so precious! Great shots for the day, Jo. Hope you're feeling better! Enjoy your weekend!!

  2. Three little ducks and three little girls, all adorable.

  3. Hi dear Jo, the little girls are so cute and I like how they are holding hands. One of my "newish" Tanzanian friends will be going home for a month next week. Unfortunately I won't be able to accept their offer of lunch at their place before he leaves as I'm busy at the time they invited me but look forward to when he returns and getting together with his family. I hope you are enjoying life there in Tanzania. Lord willing, it will be nice if I can visit there some day. Blessings and hugs xx

  4. These little girls are so cute in their uniform ! and the ducks too of course !

  5. JO, I love your cute ducklings. And the school girls look cute. Great shots. I hope you are feeling well, wishing you a happy weekend!

  6. How lovely to have children greet you. Much better mannered than girls in the 'west'.
Lucky you to see those chicks on land, mine have always stayed on momma's back.

  7. Loving the ducks but the girls are just Precious Jo!!

  8. The dabchick chicks and the little girls are all so cute. I was wondering why the girls' heads are shaved. Or is that just the effect of the sunlight on their heads?
