Scavenger Hunt Sunday # 2

This week I have taken on a challenge with fellow blogger, Margaret, Birding for Pleasure  to post two photos for each word given.

So here goes...

COOKING UTENSILS
In the '70's we would have called this item "kitch". A shop owner in Shinyanga, Tanzania gave me this; today it's on show next to my stove in my South African home
On the other side of the stove, I have a butcher's block. A rattan basket on the shelf below contains the cooking utensils which are used regularly
On top of the butcher's block is a spoon rest. Rina made this item while she still lived in Tanzania and we all utilized (!) the same pottery studio (Sorry Margaret, I just couldn't resist posting this one as well!)

STAIRS
In 2002, our back entrance was here. I had an extension built on which is our entertainment area today
This is now the entrance to our home
WEATHER
The weather (a summer storm)  built up this afternoon as I loaded this post
This young African Pied Wagtail was in search of a last meal before it sought refuge in the bushes below

NEW
Rina and I bought winter clothes together while on holiday in May. She has worn, washed, worn, washed (you get the picture) hers. Mine is still in the cupboard with the ticket on!
These knitted tops are two of five items
which I didn't get around to wearing this winter. Oh well!

PART OF
Our five-month-old Labrador pup, Skabenga loves to lie beside the stairs (featured above). Here I captured part of my dog: his sleepy head
And his curled up toes!

I'm linking to Scavenger Hunt Sunday here

  1. you know without me saying which 2 photos are my favorite...and he is getting so big... i like your new clothes you have not worn. the thing about new things is you have to go somewhere to ear them... i like both. i also like what you did to your stairs with the tile. that tile is a lot like what is in our kitchen...

  2. HI JO Well done. I did not know you had linked in before I wrote to you but keep instructions anyway. I do not think it is an easy site to manoeuvre. Now I do like the guy with the wooden spoons. That is a lovely little bird but that sky does look angry. No matter what part you show us of Skabenga it is great. Try wearing the clothes, you will suit them. Did you get a chance to look at my monthly scavenger hunt that I posted the other day? Anyhow, now, are you up for the challenge next week here again? 2 photos per word.

  6. Love the idea of doing 2 pictures for each prompt. There are times I can't pick between some of my pictures, but I never purposely set out to take two pics per prompt. I may have to take up that challenge starting next week.
That is such a cute bird, and I love your first picture, very interesting.
I love learning more about other countries too, especially ones where I have family. If I am not mistaken, my aunt and uncle live in South Africa.
Have a great weekend. Will be by again this week. I'm trying to get more sociable with the Scavenger Hunt.
