First Spring Rains in East Africa

Returning to Madui after our trip to the UK, we were greeted by very dry conditions. Apparently the first rains which are classed as "small" arrive late in September. Then at the end of October the "big" rains arrive and last for about a month and a half.

But yesterday after lunch a storm brewed and we were blessed with a good shower of rain. Afterwards the sun appeared. Early this morning we had another heavy rain shower. The sun is out as I type this post but everything feels refreshed and clean.

Here's wishing you all a great day with whatever weather you enjoy!

  1. After a dry spell, the rain is like a good wash for the land, and the soul.

I've been waiting for a good rain here. I think we are finally getting one tonight. It started raining as I walked to the pharmacy. I was only about a block up the street when I felt the little droplets. Too late to turn back, lol.

I hope you have a good week. Love and hugs. xx

  3. It is lovely to get rain after a long dry period. We haven't had any rain now for about 2 months. Before that we had it every week. Things look shiny and clean in your yard.

  5. I'm like Gaelyn, I do love the smell after a good rain. Surprisingly for the northwest, we've had no rain at all for over a month and the wild fires have been worse than usual. I'm looking forward to the return of the rain!! Hope you have a great week, Jo!!

  6. I love rain. After spending my early life in California with hot, dry weather and forest fires, I love living in Connecticut with steady rains all year to keep things green and fire-free.

  9. Hurray for the rain--quenching the dry and thirsty land! Now the greenness will abound.
