Blue skies and a Yellow-billed Kite

Blue skies over the camp this week (Can you spot the bird?)

Returning from a birding drive last Sunday, Grant stopped just inside the mine gate for me to photograph this beautiful sky and the bird in the bare tree.

Yellow-billed Kite

The Yellow-billed kite is distinguished from the other very common Black Kite, by its bright yellow bill, brown ear coverts and deeply forked tail. Yellow-billed kites are very common with a high-pitched shrill whinnying call.
A striking bird against the vibrantly blue East African sky

  1. Oh, gorgeous, Jo, and an amazing blue sky. I've never seen a kite (the bird kind) but mention of them always makes me think of Rudyard Kipling.
