Quiet Introspection

As soon as I turned back to the Lord for strength,
I experienced peace and serenity again

So often in the hurly burly of life, we forget to take stock of the way we’re behaving, to carry out self-examination. I know I do. I get so involved with day-to-day activities that I begin to operate on auto-pilot. I do everything mechanically and without thought or feeling. If I’m not careful, the I bond have with my family is weakened and my relationship with God begins to take second place.

I have to make a concerted effort to rid my life of the extra (normally unnecessary) activities and focus on the true values of life. I turn to God again and depend on Him only. I wake early and spend time in prayer and re-affirming God’s promises by immersing myself in His Holy Word. I reach out to others in need and testify of the wonderful miracles I’ve experienced from God.

As with everything, you have to make a choice. You can get caught up trying to fit as much as possible into your day or you can wait quietly on the Lord.

These past few days I’ve felt extremely tired and listless. Before I really sank into doldrums though, God in all His grace and mercy showed me a Scripture which shook me out of my lethargy. Isaiah 40:31 says: “But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”

Amen Lord!

The minute I turned to God and began to depend on Him again, my weary spirit became rejuvenated; my overactive mind became quiet and my entire being was filled with peace. I can now go out into the world with renewed strength.
