My weekend, my world, continued

Thanks to all my blogger friends for the comments on my blog yesterday. I'm intrigued that Kadotjie, the game we enjoyed as a family on Christmas Eve, is played all over the world, albeit with different names and slight variations. On Saturday, Christmas Day Grant and I were invited to Lourie and Celia for lunch. Another great day with family, extended family and friends.

In South Africa we enjoy hot (very hot) weather at Christmas time. Above the men sit and chat before lunch

All the ladies were asked to make a dish for Christmas dinner. I made a roast leg of lamb with fresh sprigs of Rosemary and roasted new  potatoes

Once again Celia set the table with a specific theme: this time with a tablecloth she had made from material with a Christmas scene. The white crockery and Christmas serviettes in glasses, completed the setting

The beautifully set table laden with dishes of meats and vegetables
Lots of roast turkey, stuffing, ham and mutton interspersed with a bean salad, roast vegetables and a potato and pumpkin bake

  1. Looks like a lovely get together! Interesting kitchen. Thanks for stopping by - I did get my snow pics up so if you want to cool off come on by! Happy New Year.

  2. What a feast. I wouldn't mind celebrating Christmas in hot weather. The lamb looks delish, yet I'm surprised You cooked it. Always nice to gather with friends and family.

  3. Wow---you all really celebrated, didn't you???? I could never imagine having Christmas when the weather was warm or hot.... Amazing--the differences...

Dinner looked awesome... Thanks for sharing.

  4. Jo, I can't believe I missed your previous post. I love your sister-in-law's kitchen. I was admiring it in this post and then saw it with the pink and white polka-dot cloth, and it's just as wonderful.
I know I've played a game similar to Kadotjie, where everyone has a chance to claim someone else's gift, but I don't remember it having a name, and I don't recall using dice, but the hilarity was the same.
Oh, now I see I somehow missed several blogs that I follow. I must have been having a bad day yesterday, although I think I'm getting over this whatever-it-is I've had for three weeks.
So glad you're having such a good time. Love your photos.
    Luv, K
