Weekend rest

This past weekend was peaceful and most enjoyable. Apart from walking Shadow in the garden (what's new, LOL!), and watching my one neighbour over the road move house,  I also wandered around, camera in hand and photographed said garden.

Above are two of my "fat" cats, Felix and Puff.  We weighed Puff (the solid black cat) last week. He clocked in at 6kg/13lb 2oz!
I've started letting Shadown walk in the garden "on his own". That is, still wearing the harness and leash but instead of me holding the other end, I follow him around. I feel like a nanny walking behind my charge in the park! He is doing very well and explores everything without venturing too far away from "mum". (If he gets too far away from me, I quickly step on the leash to stop him.)  So many exciting and new things to discover if you've never had the priviledge of being an outdoor cat!

Once again, he ventured too near to Chip!

The lady across the road is moving to another house further downtown. It helps that she manages one of the two furniture shops in Marquard!

Spent time wandering around the garden camera in hand

A peaceful weekend

We also went on a bike ride to Johannesburg. More about this tomorrow in My World Tuesday

  1. I love your ponds, and your garden is beautiful, Jo. And so is Shadow, of course. I'm so glad he is getting accustomed to being outdoors, although eventually he'll have to learn to give Chip a wide berth.
But your cats can't beat mine in the fat department. My white longhair, Ava, weighed 25 lbs. and my white-with-black shorthair, Herman, weighed 15 lbs. When Hermie went to see the vet, I had to put Ava in the carry-kennel with him to keep him quiet, so I had to carry 40 lbs. (18kg) of cat to and from the car. I would have done anything for Hermie, though, because he was the world's best cat.

  2. I love the photos of your garden. Shadow is going to have a great time there. Sounds like he's well on his way to acclimating to his new environment.

  3. Looks like a great weekend, Jo.... I love seeing your gorgeous home and garden.... Awesome!!!!

Looks like Shadow is getting to know his new home.... Not sure that other cat is happy with him.....

  4. Hi Jo,
What a beautiful garden you have. I'm glad your weekend was enjoyable and relaxing :)

  5. Your garden looks like a beautifully cared-for park or arboretum. It is so lovely!

  6. I love walking in your beautiful garden. No wonder Shadow enjoys these forays. Well, except for Chip.

  7. I just came back yesterday evening and feel a little groggy ! outside we have fog ! Yesterday a wore sunglasses, lol !
Your garden looks so beautiful and 6 kg for a cat is OK, Arthur too weighs 6 and he doesn't even look fat. I have to catch up on blogs now. Little Shadow seems to get used to his new world. In a while the others will accept him too !

  8. You have a lot of love and patience to help Shadow become adjusted to his new home. Your garden is looking super in Spring.

  9. Everything looks so great. The walkway is my favorite.Love Brick walkways.

  10. I admire your Curriculum Vitae!!! A life with such different experiences and different place to live!!! I'm jealous my life looks so restrictiv when I read yours! I leave in France since ever and hope to travel more now since the daughters are adult now!!! Your garden is marvelous and cats so cute!

  11. You have a fabulous garden. I can understand why Shadow wants to explore. I hope that eventually the two cats will get on.
