Sunny Sunflowers

It's quite a challenge to find something "scenic" in the normal sense of the word here in the city. Until we drive out into the desert, I will continue to post scenic scenes from South Africa. The photo was also taken on the day I left South Africa to fly to North Africa

South Africa is the world's tenth largest producer of sunflower seed, with an annual harvest of between 175 000 and 630 000 ton. Sunflower seed is produced on the Mpumalanga highveld, in the North-West and the Free State.

  2. Sunflowers are such cheerful happy flowers lifting their faces to the sun.

  3. I love sunflowers. I have lots of it way back in our country home. We only visit this country home twice a year to enjoy what nature always offer. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Great shot, I love sunflowers and it is just amazing to see these large fields of them. My birds just love the sunflower seeds.

  5. I love that field of gold Jo. Hope there's still some in bloom in March.
I'll bet there's some great scenes from where you are now. Look forward to your desert.
