Home again

Having arrived home from our holiday at the beach earlier this week, we're back into life at home.

Of course, it was family time over the weekend and the children came over from next door for the obequitous BBQ. Grant and Angus grilled huge steaks on the fire; Grant made maize meal porridge, called pap (pronounced "pup") on the kitchen stove,  and Rina and I made tomato and onion stew to go with it.

Of course, Angus and the children enjoyed Granny's motorbike to the fullest...
The Hedges grandchildren are crazy about motorbikes. I wonder why...
In the above photos, the children and Angus wore helmets as he took them around the block

When Angus came around the back of our garages and rode up the driveway, you can see Joel leaning ecstatically to the left. (A good pillion even at his age!) Then you hear Rina asking if he's not going to knock his head against the wall and I reply: Uh-uh (meaning "no")

I hope these videos upload easily. Then you get a good idea how happy the kids are riding around the garden with their daddy.

Meanwhile Rina and I have started a new puzzle.
It's called Raiding the Apple Crop with lots of barrels of apples tipped over onto the grass by three cows

Soooo, watch this space!

Happy Monday to you all.

  1. Looks like a great weekend with family/friends. I can understand why your son and the grands LOVE motorcycles... It runs in the family, don't you think????? ha

Looks like a neat puzzle. My family used to keep a jigsaw puzzle going every year when we'd take our family vacation to Arkansas (from Texas--when the kids were teens).. We set up a card table and anyone who wanted to could work on it throughout the week. We always managed to complete one each year.... SO many memories.

  2. Your grands kids certainly love the moter bike. Loved the 2 videos. the jig saw looks challenging!

  3. The kids are having a whale of a time. Have fun with the jigsaw. I love them too but rarely have time to do them.

  4. I wonder if Toby would like to ride on such a bike, certainly not when his helicopter father is around, lol !
Goodness me, what a puzzle ! Nothing for me, not even one with 7 pieces !

  5. what is the Pap/pup like? I had the Ghanaian Foo Foo.

  6. Hello Jo, the grandchildren look like they are loving the ride on the motorcycle. I enjoyed the videos. Your family BBQ sounds yummy. The puzzle looks pretty enjoy working on it. Have a happy day and new week ahead!

  7. can't wait to see this puzzle, the other one is magnificent. love the videos of joy....

  8. I'm impressed by that motorbike. Even more impressed that it belongs to you Jo. Our grandkids love doing jigsaw puzzles and we have to buy new ones regularly so that they don't become bored with the old ones.

  9. I'm thinking that puzzle will take quite a while to complete. :) Yep, I wander why the kids are so fascinated by the motorbikes. lol

  10. So much fun on the bikes!
