Long trees

In South Africa the cemeteries are bordered on all sides by cypresses. (Long trees)

The cypresses lining this farmers entrance road

For many years I was the organist at the Anglican Church. After the service on day, as we stood out in the church grounds drinking tea, people were talking about a woman recently widowed. Apparently she was planning an extensive trip abroad. My son, Angus and I were tickled pink when one of the elders standing nearby quipped:

"When man goes to long trees, woman goes overseas!"

HAPPY MONDAY TO YOU ALL!

  2. That's quite the comment! It does seem some women do feel freedom to travel once they are widowed. I guess it depends what they did before their husband passed.
