Vuvuzelas for Christ

Children in Moemaneng Township outside Marquard,  enjoy soccer playing with a home-made soccer ball (What joy this lad exhibits)  Photo credit: Ida le Grange

The main purpose of mankind’s existence is to glorify God and to celebrate Him for all eternity.

Let’s be honest - we’re far more excited about a goal scored by Bafana Bafana in the World Cup than we are about the greatest story ever told – the birth and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Our joy about God should go much deeper.

How on earth am I going to convince anybody seeking God of the absolute joy of my faith if there’s no sign of it in my own life? Where would Isend this person to find someone who celebrates God constantly and without restraint if I show none of the joy in your own life?

Why is it so hard for us to celebrate God? Maybe because we feel it’s not proper; or perhaps we’re afraid of offending other. Or maybe we’ve lost just a little bit of our first love for Christ.

Don't you know or believe the Good News?

God reconciled Himself to this world through his son Jesus Christ. This alone is reason enough make us celebrate our joy in God visibly and audibly wherever we go.

So let's go out there and blow our vuvuzelas, trumpets or whatever and make a holy noise for Christ!

Praise him with trumpets.
Praise him with harps and lyres.
Praise him with drums and dancing.
Praise him with harps and flutes.
Praise him with cymbals.
Praise him with loud cymbals.
Praise the Lord, all living creatures!
Praise the Lord! Ps. 150: 3-6

  1. Jo, you are so right! Though I too was once a blasphemer, and persicuter, and a violent man, through the grace and love of my God, Jesus, the one who is called Christ, I've been forgiven and made anew creature in Him! My heart is filled to overflowing with His love and compassion for all!

Thank you for sharing your love for The Long Life Happiness One Whose Ways Are Beautiful!

    Go with God sister...

  2. Great post, Jo.... I can only imagine what a better world we'd live in IF there was as much enthusiasm about God and Christ around the world as there is for all of the big sports events....

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  3. Wonderful post, Jo! You're right, we get into our daily mode of busy-ness and don't recall our first love, Jesus as we make our way through the tasks of the day.

Do you have any fellowship group in Sudan with whom you can worship?

  4. Aye Mike, it's not by anything we've done but by the Grace of God that we're saved. Amen!

Hi Betsy;) I also pray for people to have the same enthusiasm for Jesus as we do for sports in South Africa. I'm heartened though: there are many Christian groups out there in the streets and among the people who are testifying to the visitors and SA fans alike. I believe there will be many conversions on Africa soil, Whoohoo!

Hi Pat;) you're right. We need ask God to be with us ALL day.

  5. May the world cup be one of peace and friendsip. Yet it is so sad when our New Zealand TV crews have their camera equipment stolen from their hotel room. Not nice.

  6. Yes, Ann;) this is a real problem and I prayt that the criminals come to know the Lord. That's all we can do. The SAPS (SA Police) are doing very well, I think and apprehend the guilty very quickly. There is a court which tries them immediately while WCS is on. As I said: now it is necessary for the guilty to know that God will forgive them if only they admit their wrongdoings and ask HIM for forgiveness. He is great and gracious and WILL forgive all who confess: 1 John 1:9 says: If we confess our sins to Him, he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong. ALL of us. Then we will not wilfully sin. Definitely not steal or murder or lie (all go together believe it or not!) Thanks for popping in. I hope you enjoy the rest of our World Cup Soccer.

  7. How lovely of you to share us your enthusiasm about your faith. Yes, I knew a few people who thought it would offend people if we incorporation God in our blogging. But that is not the case.

King David in his grandeur did both the glorifying God and singing songs of praises for His glory.

Also, I smiled at the little foreign language you add towards the end.

If possible, may I take note of those words for my little Note. I love jottings about anything. Great language to learn too.
